ACGCB help organizes Federal Senator Claire Moore’s office opening, in Fortitude Valley- Brisbane

ACGCB with the Australian Scouts is organising the Scouts Fun Day Walk and lunch, to celebrate 100 years of Scouts worldwide. The event will be held in Roma Street Parklands, with thousands expected to attend.

7th November 2008
ACGCB establishes a joint committee with the Dept of Immigration and the Australian Workers Union (AWU) to investigate companies and migrants’ abuse of visa 457 foreign workers. The committee will also assist victims of visa 457 to find new employment and recovery of loss wages in situations where foreign workers are unfairly treated by their employers or migrant agents.
30th October 2008
ACGCB meets with University student associations from UQ, QUT and Griffith University to launch a state grant application for Sports Equipment for QLD Chinese community program, which includes the establishment of a combine universities soccer team, table tennis equipment for Ipswich and gym mats for Cairns Chinese Community.
24th October 2008
ACGCB secures $12,500 from the Department of Public Works to repair the Rockhampton Chinese Community Centre, a third of the required funding needed to complete the project.
27th September 2008
Vice Chairman of ACGCB visits Ipswich Chinese Association to launch a federal grant application under the Australian China Council to secure $20,000 to purchase Chinese textbooks for Cairns, Rockhampton and the Ipswich Chinese community as part of the Regional Queensland Assistance Program.
September 2008
Vice Chairman of ACGCB secures $10,000 from the Rockhampton City Council under the Community Sponsorship fund to repair the local Chinese Community Centre. The funding secured only forms 1/3 of the required funding needed to complete the project.
8th April 2008
ACGCB gives basic Chinese language lecture at the Academy of Sports, to Australian Olympic athletes competing in the Beijing Olympic games.
12th February 2008
ACGCB invited 20 guests to join the QLD Premier Anna Bligh’s Chinese New Year celebration event at Parliament House.
